Friends and neighbors,

If you have an old, faded, or tattered American flag at home, please do not throw it away. That flag has represented the sacrifice of our veterans and the freedoms we still enjoy. It deserves a respectful retirement—not a trash can.

VFW Carl Webb Post 1799 in Tyler is hosting a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
They will honorably retire unserviceable flags with participation from the Civil Air Patrol and Scouts, and guest speaker Coby Dillard, Director of Military and Veterans Affairs at UT Tyler and a Navy veteran.

Location: VFW Post 1799, 14391 Rhones Quarter Road – Tyler

Veterans, families, and the whole community are welcome. Bring your worn flags. Stay for the ceremony. Let our young people see what honor looks like.
